Tenzing Rigdol

Rigdol, an artist and activist from Tibet uses many mediums including collage, photography, painting, video-installation, drawing, performance art and silk brocade. He uses his work to address strong political issues close to his heart, he also uses his art as a way of reflecting the views of the Buddhist community.

When he was living in Nepal he studied Tibetan butter sculpture, sand painting and Buddhist philosophy. He then went on to gain a diploma in Tibetan sand panting in 2005 and also went on the achieve many awards for his work.

One collection of his work is called  “Change is the Eternal Law”, this exhibition explores Buddhism’s Four Noble Truths, otherwise known as “the eternal law”. He uses collage, to highlight the silent struggle of the Tibetan people which is overlooked by the foreign governments. By combining the photos and maps of Tibet with symbols of Buddhism, it gives of a conflicting vibe, and is thought provoking for the viewer. I love using the two contrasting ideas with in the piece and I could take this concept and use two conflicting ideas in my end product.
