Book Becomes Book, Chris Gibson (2011)
Book Becomes Bookis a digital artists’ book, created for the Kindle ereader. It comprises a short narrative about the immersive nature of reading, and relies on the paper-like quality of the Kindle’s screen and its novel page-turning method to give the text its potency.
The artwork was created in 2011 specifically for Amazon’s e-ink Kindles (as opposed to the tablet-like Kindle Fire) and uses the limitations of the technology to draw the reader’s attention to the reading process, specifically drawing comparison with reading from a book and from the ereader.
The book was created by Christopher Gibson, a British artist who uses books and text, to create intimate, often site-specific artworks.
